How to Connect a Bag in Box to a PortaPint or Lindr Dispenser Using a Flojet Pump

Bag in Box drinks can be served through a PortaPint or Lindr drinks dispenser by using a Flojet gas-powered pump. This provides a simple way of dispensing products such as juices, cocktails, mixers and other suitable Bag in Box drinks through a chilled draught system.

The setup uses the built-in air compressor in the dispenser to power the Flojet pump, removing the need for a separate external air compressor.

Our diagram above shows the basic setup and the three connections required.

Please note: The blue, green and red pipe colours shown in our diagram are for illustration purposes only, making it easier to identify each connection and understand the direction of flow. The actual pipework does not need to be these colours. Suitable beverage and air line can be used regardless of colour.

 

What You Will Need

The main additional components required are a Flojet gas pump and a suitable Bag in Box connector.

Flojet G56 Gas Pump:

The Flojet G56 is powered by compressed air and features 3/8" push-fit connections for the gas and product connections.

Vitop S Bag in Box Connector:

The Vitop S-Connector provides a secure connection between compatible Bag in Box products and the product pipe feeding the Flojet pump.

How the System Works

The Flojet pump sits between the Bag in Box and your PortaPint or Lindr dispenser.

There are three separate connections:

🔵 BLUE IN THE DIAGRAM – Compressed Air

The line connects the air outlet on the PortaPint or Lindr dispenser to the air inlet on the Flojet pump.

This supplies compressed air from the dispenser's built-in compressor to operate the pump.

🟢 GREEN IN THE DIAGRAM – Product from the Bag in Box

This line connects the Bag in Box to the liquid inlet on the Flojet pump.

A suitable Bag in Box connector will be required to connect the pipework to the product bag. For products using a compatible Vitop fitting, we stock the Vitop S Bag in Box Connector.

The exact connector required will depend on the fitting used on your particular Bag in Box product.

🔴 RED IN THE DIAGRAM – Product to the Dispenser

This line connects the liquid outlet of the Flojet pump to the product inlet on the PortaPint or Lindr dispenser.

Once connected, the Flojet pump draws the liquid from the Bag in Box and pushes it into the dispenser, where it is chilled before being served from the tap.

Step-by-Step Connection

1. Connect the Compressed Air

Connect the air outlet on the dispenser to the air inlet on the Flojet pump.

This connection is represented by the blue line in our diagram.

The dispenser's built-in compressor will provide the compressed air required to operate the pump.

2. Connect the Bag in Box

Fit the correct Bag in Box connector to your product and run suitable product pipe from the connector to the liquid inlet on the Flojet pump.

This connection is represented by the green line in the diagram.

3. Connect the Flojet Pump to the Dispenser

Connect the liquid outlet on the Flojet pump to the product inlet on the dispenser.

This connection is represented by the red line.

Once everything is securely connected, the dispenser's compressor powers the Flojet G56 Gas Pump. The pump draws product from the Bag in Box and feeds it into the dispenser ready for chilling and serving.

Remember – The Pipe Colours Don't Matter

You do not need to purchase blue, green and red pipe to create this setup.

We've simply colour-coded the pipework in the diagram to make the three connections easier to follow:

• Blue = Air from dispenser → Flojet pump
• Green = Bag in Box → Flojet pump
• Red = Flojet pump → dispenser product inlet

The important thing is that suitable pipework is used for each application and that it is connected to the correct inlet and outlet.

Important Setup Tips

Make sure all pipe connections and fittings are secure before switching the system on.

Where possible, position the Bag in Box below the Flojet pump and avoid unnecessary lengths of pipework.

Before dispensing a new product, we recommend flushing and cleaning the system thoroughly. Always follow the appropriate cleaning requirements for the drink being dispensed.

It is also important to use the correct Bag in Box connector, as different manufacturers and products can use different valve and connector types.

Suitable for PortaPint and Lindr Dispensers

The same basic principle can be used with both PortaPint and Lindr dispensers fitted with a built-in air compressor.

This makes it a useful solution for mobile bars, events, festivals, weddings, temporary bars, pop-up venues and other hospitality applications where chilled Bag in Box drinks need to be served on draught.
